Celebrated Musician Akon Says Only Way African Americans can get fair treatment is by going back to Africa
According to a research done in 2007, thirty percent of African American workers reported they have experienced discrimination or unfair treatment in the workplace. One-in-four (27 percent) report it happens every week as stated by CareerBuilder.com and Kelly Services. In 2016, the numbers have improved but still many blacks believe equality in US has a long way to go. Obama presidency helped, but not so much.Just 42 percent of blacks believe the country will eventually make the changes to get there, compared with 75 percent of whites. But according to American singer Akon, African Americans can only enjoy true freedom back in Africa.“I always felt Africa was for Africans,” said Akon.“So when I see African Americans dealing with all these(racial) issues, my first question is why don't they just go back home? Back to Africa. Where they’ll be treated fair, where they’ll be praised to actually be Americans.”Trump is intensifying his war on immigrants and millions are set to be deported from US. More are being obstructed from entering the country.Akon has lived both in America and Africa. He argued that America wasn’t built with blacks in mind and that although the changes are being implemented, it’s the same rules used in the 1800s that are being used now.“The system in America was never built for black people,” said Akon in the interview.“I’m speaking for myself. This is my personal opinion. That system has never been changed. These documents were made back in the 1800s and these are the exact literature that are down today. So when they were made, black people were not in that position that they were looked as equal.”To see Akon’s full argument watch the clip below:
