Former Churchill comedian accused of conning Kenyans in diaspora

Funny man David Kangogo popularly known as David the student is on the spotlight over allegations that he has been conning people. The former Churchill Show comedian is accused of acquiring by false pretense Ksh 188,650 by one Grace Mboya who has already reported the matter at Langa’ata police station and recorded a statement.According to the comedian, he maintains that he owes no one money as it is a business deal they were engaged that did not sail through making him lose money as well.“He borrowed the money July last year and for some time now, I have been chasing him for it. I even gave him a repayment plan of sh 20,000 for 10 months but still he did not honor it,” she told a local daily.In his defense, David the student say that they were planning to jet in Tanzania’s music mega star Diamond Platnumz for a performance in Eldoret but it did not go through. ’I was called to Parklands Police Station where I went with my lawyer. She was told she (Grace) has no case. I don't have her money. We were organizing an event to take Diamond Platnumz to Eldoret for a concert. It was a two-way arrangement in which i also lost money because the event did not happen, it failed,’’ he said.The allegations come as a far as from the diaspora with one Frank Njoroge who took to his Facebook page to express his woes and warn people to be careful with the comedian.“Red alert my diaspora people. I want to notify you of a con man who has given some of us a head time here in the diaspora… comedian ‘David the Student’ from Churchill show is a real con man.” Read the post.Frank said that he fast encountered David when the comedian was in the US to give a shot at America’s Got Talent. Another Kenyan in the US, Steven Mbugua organized a couple of comedy shows in Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Boston but in the course of the tour, Mbugua received con complaints from different quarters forcing him to fire David the Student.“I told him you have not changed at all, you are no longer part of this tour. I called the organizer in Boston and told him David will no longer be performing there because he has been conning people,” he said.However some have come out strongly defending the comedian saying those accusations are malicious and hold no water. They instead say the comedian is the one being owed money by those accusing him.“I spoke to him, Kip Kip Siratei, and Victor Murgor. After listening to his side of the story it’s now apparent that #NjorogeFrank, #MikeMwehrsSnr and #StevenMbuguo claims of being conned are baseless. They provided half-truths on the matter while in real sense they owe David Kangogo some money, they failed to pay the guy the agreed amount for the shows in Las Vegas, Seattle and elsewhere...a lot of money for that matter, besides emotional torture, neglect and spiritual abuse. They need to come out clean and clear this mess. If your claims are valid #NjorogeFrank and co. Why do you keep deleting and blocking those who question validity of your claims?
