NASA resumes demos on Friday
National Super Alliance announced its intention to resume demonstrations in Nairobi on Friday, November 10.The Opposition memorably brought business to a standstill in its strongholds ahead of the October 26 repeat presidential election with calls to its supporters to rise up against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.Tens lost their lives while many sustained life threatening injuries in the demos that turned violent as protesters clashed with police.Now, the National Resistance Movement, Nasa’s wing leading economic sabotage and civil disobedience, has notified the police of its scheduled protest.NRM notified Nairobi Police commander Japhet Koome of the planned demos through former ODM Senatorial aspirant and lawyer Edwin Sifuna.The rebellion is protesting against electoral injustice insisting Raila Odinga won the August 8 election but Jubilee and IEBC colluded to rig the polls.The movement has called upon its supporters to boycott products and services of companies it believes abetted the rigging of the August election including Safaricom, Brookside Dairies and Bidco.Nasa whose Petition was ruled by Supreme Court in its favour in September hence the last month poll, failed to file another petition to challenge incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory although two parties have filed cases.
