Time to focus on Africa! Journalist Isha Isatu states after leaving CNN

Seasoned CNN journalist Isha Isatu has called it a day at the Atlanta, Georgia based media outlet. Isatu who hails from Sierra Leon has been serving at CNN for the past 13 years. The move took many by surprise as she took to her Twitter account to announce her departure.“It’s really happening, folks!! After more than a decade behind the desk with those three red letters… I HAVE LEFT CNN,” she said.Isha’s 13 year stint at CNN as she narrates, has helped her acquire the growth and confidence she needs to forge her own way going forward.“I’m ready to have a little bit more autonomy and take the lead in my own life.” she said.Isha joined CNN in 2005 at 30, under a one year contract that saw her rise to be amongst the top news anchors and reporters at the media entity.

Isha, who doubles as an author. is expecting to release a book in May 2019 about the Chibok girls who abducted by Boko Haram in Nigeria. Her main attention will however be on young girls as she tells the African Story which she believes has over the years has not been covered sufficiently especially with the Western world media.“I want to put a focus on Africa in the way I wish all international media would cover Africa. Now it’s either underreported or not reported with the right nuance and context. I’m going to turn my attention to being one in this new army of people who are moving into this space, who are representing Africa in a new way.” she said.Currently, Isha is running a non-profit organization WE CAN LEAD that has already enrolled 600 girls in Sierra Leone that aims at equipping the young girls with leadership skills and quality education to secure their future.
