Another Kenyan Wins Big In UK Elections

Timothy Makofu Kinyanjui, a Swindon resident of Kenyan origin, was voted as a councilor in West Swindon parish council, Toothill Ward in Swindon, UK on the Thursday 4th May 2017.This brings the total number of Kenyan councillors in UK to three after Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe and Councillor Kimani of South London won too.Makofu won on a Labour Party Ticket. Makofu, 47, is a father of three and lives in Toothill.The major parties were the big winners on the night, with Labour and the Conservatives both clinching control of two councils each.The win comes just days after Lucy Gichuhi, a lawyer, replaced Bob Day in the Australian Senate making her the first person of Kenyan descent to be elected to Federal Parliament. Gichuhi emigrated to Australia in 1999 before and became a citizen there in 2001.Here are the results:
