‘Very Beautiful’ Politician That Kenyans Promised To Vote For Loses Badly In Nominations
They say having fans doesn't translate to having votes and one famous politician has just realized that.A prominent Mombasa model and businesswoman has been floored in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries badly.Sadaf Deen, who was contesting the Mombasa Women Representative ticket in the ODM nominations, lost by a wide margin despite Kenyans taking to social media a couple of months ago to promise they’ll vote for the ‘hottest politician’ in Kenya.Deen had earlier disputed the delay of the results for nearly a week after the nominations in the race with Asha Mohamed, a well known community worker.Kenyans, however, went for more than just beauty, breaking their promise in the process.Asha garnered 17,000 votes to Deen's 8578 votes a third candidate Hamisi Zaja garnered 3590 votes.Sadaf Deen, a 20-year-old fashonista turned model who recently decided to pursue her childhood political passion expressed her appreciation for everyone who supported her to venture into politics.“My phone has been ringing endlessly since my planned interest to go into politics was publicised. It’s been crazy. Fans are calling to support me, others just want to flirt. It’s been very crazy. Officially, I am running for the women representative post in Mobassa 2017,” she said in an interview when she announced joining politics.
