Harvard Rejects Senator Was One Of Their Student After Claiming He Has 7 Degrees
Harvard University has come out to reject an African senator who said he graduated from the school.Senator Dino Melaye who is in the center of a certificate scandal after saying he also went NYSC camp between 9th July 2000 and finished on 8th July 2001, was being investigated for forging his academic papers. An online news portal, Sahara Reporters, had last week accused Melaye of not graduating from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, thereby, discrediting the academic certificate the Senator is flaunting.Former Leader of the Senate, Ali Ndume, also brought a matter of urgent public importance through order 14 and 15 during the previous legislative day, drawing the attention of the Senate to the online publications.Consequently, the Senate mandated its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, to carry out investigation into the allegation.Harvard disowned Melaye claiming that he has never been part of their students but the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) said the senator has a degree from NYSC.CACOL stated this in a statement signed and issued by its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran, on Thursday.“The facts that are already in public domain on his academic qualifications from different institutions including the prestigious Harvard Law School, in New York, London School of Economics and Nigerian institutions are glaringly in sharp contradictions with Dino Melaye’s claims,” said the statement.“No one needs not to be told that anyone capable of forging a certificate to get to office is extremely likely to perpetrate corruption if elected into office. This is one of what is responsible for the rampant corrupt and sharp practices we witness in the public and elected offices on daily basis.”
