Jubilee Politician Who Has Been Trying His Luck In Politics For 43 Years Finally Wins

It has been a long wait for Clement Muturi Kigano but he’s still glad he managed to do so.The Nairobi-based lawyer first contested for the Kangema Parliamentary seat in 1974 at the age of 28 and lost.He has contested in each and every election since then and lost each time.The 71-year-old lawyer found something to smile about after trouncing all his opponents in the Jubilee party primaries. MP Tiras Ngahu lost the ticket to lawyer Muturi Kigano who polled 8,530 against 5,418 votes.The dominant former Kangema Member of Parliament John Michuki kept Kigano out of Parliament with a series of defeats. Upon Michuki's death, Kigano contested in the by-election but came a distant fourth, losing to Ngahu.More candidates who lost in the nominations in Murang’a county have continued to rally behind the winners to support President Uhuru Kenyatta.Murang’a county is seen as one of the main support areas of the Jubilee Party and aspirants who have decamped from the party have left both leaders and residents worried.
