Kenya’s US Embassy Security Guards Strike Over Pay

Over 200 security guards working at the United States Embassy in Nairobi on Thursday downed their tools over poor pay.The guards, who are work under security company KK, demonstrated claiming that their salaries have not been appraised for over 10 years now.According to the guards who spoke to Capital FM News, they want a pay increment from their current basic salary of Sh17,000 to Sh38,000.They demonstrated with placards and wanted KK East Africa Managing Director, Nick Arnold, to address their issues as soon as possible.“Punda Amechoka” the placards read.It took police officers to convince them to leave for home and later report for their night shift.“We have been lied to for so long. We won’t take it anymore,” they were heard saying.Watch the demos below:
