Kikuyu Elders Suspend 17 Members For Supporting ODM Member, Cursing SK Macharia

Kikuyu Council of Elders has suspended 17 elders who allegedly endorsed Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero’s reelection bid and allegedly cursed media owner S.K Macharia for having a different political stand with the Kikuyu community. The chairman of Kikuyu elders (Kiama Kia Ma) in Kiambu Waweru wa Mbugua was also suspended in the process for supporting governor Evans Kidero's reelection.“They promised Kidero that we are supporting his re-election but we have never discussed the issue as an agenda," Interim county chairman Choruwa Muiruri said.Muiruri said the elders were also angered by how Mbugua led a group of elders to a ceremony to curse Royal Media Services chairman SK Macharia in Murang’a, early this year. The 16 members will also stay away from the council for four seasons which translates to 4 years, The Star reports.“We cannot curse but we offer advice to the society which is guided by our spiritual stand. Some of us are church leaders, family men, church elders and respected members of the society. We know inside our hearts that SK Macharia was not cursed” Muiruri said.Source: The Star
