KNH on the spot for mishandling patients

National outrage was building up on Friday over a Facebook post detailing allegations of abuse at Kenyatta National Hospital.The allegations contained in a Facebook group known as "Buyer Beware" accused the hospital of being "a hotspot of all kinds of criminal activities".The series of screenshots showed confession of how people were mishandled in the national hospital.Via #STOPrapeatKNH, Kenyans condemned the allegations saying the government has to step in before it is too late."The horror stories of breastfeeding mothers at @KNH at night are blood cuddling," @wangarikanyongo said.Health CS Cleopas Mailu has ordered investigations into the alleged rape ordeals immediately.  He said the KNH management and security agents will provide a report on the issue by Monday, January 22. KNH wrote to the DCI asking for investigation into the rape claims that emerged on Friday saying they have no record of any assault."The allegations are in bad faith. We have written to the DCI to investigate and if they is any truth then action will be taken," CEO Lily Koros said.Koros, during a press conference, said they have not received any complaints and have not seen anything after reviewing the facility's CCTV footage.Addressing journalists after a fact finding visit to the facility, Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) Secretary-General Ouma Oluga told the Nation that he had seen CCTV footage of last night's events and had not noticed any illegal activities captured."We have been taken round the wards and are yet to see anything out of the ordinary in the footage," he said.
