Printing Of Presidential Ballot Papers Continues As Planned

Al-Ghurair has started printing presidential ballot papers after Court of Appeal quashed High Court order for a fresh tendering process. The Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing firm, which has already started delivering ballot papers for other elective seats, will now continue printing the presidential ballot papers after the ruling that marked the collapse of the 18th case against the electoral commission.Thursday’s decision was a successive victory for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which had the previous day secured the dismissal of a petition against its electronic elections system. The Dubai-based printer and publisher was awarded the contract to print ballot papers for the August 8 general election. The High court stopped the printing of presidential ballot papers following a suit filed by the National Super Alliance.A five- judge bench was tasked with examining whether the decision would remain. The Court of Appeal judges are Erastus Githinji, Roselyn Nambuye, Visram Alnasir, Jamilla Muhammed and Otieno Odek. The development comes a day after the firm delivered ballot papers for other elective posts in the country in readiness for the much anticipated poll.
