In Case You Missed Jack Ma’s Speech, This Is What He Told Kenyans

President Uhuru Kenyatta held talks on Thursday with visiting Chinese billionaire entrepreneur Jack Ma to discuss ways of empowering the youth through entrepreneurship.Jack Ma, a Chinese billionaire, in a public lecture at the University of Nairobi, said Africa's poor infrastructure, social, economic and political situation should be a source of innovation for most entrepreneurs, just as lack of e-commerce in his home country inspired him to start one of the biggest online marketplaces.Ma also spoke about the process of failure, and how that can be a catalyst for innovation and progress.“You have to get used to failure. If you can’t, then how can you win,” he said, while delivering a public lecture at the University of Nairobi.During the talks, Ma also said Kenya can create more opportunities for trade through the use of e-commerce and that the country has the capacity to achieve that goal. The business mogul was accompanied by 38 others from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce who are in the country in search of multi-billion dollar business opportunities with the government as well as local business people.

“It is a good thing that Kenyans see opportunities and the need to change, which is exactly what I saw in China 20 to 30 years ago,” he said.
The Chinese tycoon praised Kenya’s ICT infrastructure and urged young people to use it as window to trade with the world.
“I am shocked at the speed of the Internet and I have met very many young people with innovative ideas that could change the world,” he said.Watch the full speech below:
