Shock As Over 100 KQ Technicians Have Moved To Middle East Airlines
Seems like the efforts of revamping struggling national carrier, Kenya Airways, are riddled with huddle after huddle.More than 100 aeronautical engineers and technicians have quit Kenya Airways for rival Middle East airlines in the past year, the company’s management said. The career, which has been struggling with debt and making loses, has been hiring fresh graduates from Technical University of Kenya to compensate as pilots move to profitable carriers such as Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad Airways.“Kenya has in the past year exported technicians and engineers to the Middle East,” said KQ strategy director, Thomas Omondi. “About 100 technicians left and we hired, but there are more chances available.”Safaricom's ex-CEO Michael Joseph was appointed as chairman in October as pilots pressured to go on strike. The pilots were demanding management changes and many opted to move to the Middle East airlines who are paying way better than KQ.
