Sonko breaths fire after finding KSh 7 Million at City hall offices in a sting operation

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday led an operation at the county cash office discovering unbanked Sh7 million.The governor said the raid was after a tip-off.During the operation Tuesday (August 22), the Governor says that he discovered that the Cash Office had on several occasions failed to bank huge sums of cash that later ends in pockets of individuals.“It is completely unacceptable that yesterday's (Tuesday) collections in excess of Sh7 million in cash was lying with the cashiers by 11:00am yet the County's Bank is only 50 metres away,” wondered the governor.He said he has instructed the cash office to immediately install CCTV cameras and that monitoring will be done by his office, the CID and NSIS.Sonko has been on fire since he was sworn in as Evans Kidero's successor after the national election on August 8.He promised former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga that he will continue cleaning the city and rid Nairobi of cartels.This was after Mutunga said he had noticed that clean water tanks "suddenly appear" in areas without supply. The former CJ raised concerns about water cartels.He said his administration will seal all loopholes to suffocate cartels stealing county revenue, and that traders will no longer suffer under people mandated to protect them.
