Tears, Shock, And Pain As Promising Life Of A Kenyan In Atlanta Is Cut Short By A GunShot In A Botched Robbery

The Kenya community in America Diaspora is in a state of shock and anguish following the death of Mike Mulwa whose promising life was cut short by a gunshot at a gas station in Birmingham, Alabama.The Birmingham, Alabama based WBRC is reporting that the shooting took place at a Citgo gas station in the 9800 block of Parkway East in Birmingham.Officers responded to the scene and found two people consoling the victim. The victim underwent surgery at UAB Hospital and later died from his wound.Investigators believe a robbery may have been the motive.“People should be able to go to work and return home without being the victim of a crime. Our investigators will work hard to bring this family answers and bring the killer to justice,” Sgt. Bryan Shelton said.The 29-year old Mike lived in Atlanta, but worked at gas station in Alabama.According to Alabama News, the shooting followed a holdup at the store where Mike Worked.  He was taken to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery. He died about 4:30 a.m. at the hospital.Sgt. Shelton further said it appears robbery was the motive, and also noting: "Investigators are sure an altercation took place inside the location, and at some point the victim was shot.''This is Birmingham's 44th homicide this year, and the 63rd in all of Jefferson County. Of the 44 Birmingham homicides, at least four have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren't deemed criminal by the department.Mike was cherished by all those his life touched.
