Trumps Orders U.S Sale Of Jets To Nigeria

President Donald Trump's administration has approved plans to sell up to a dozen aircraft to Nigeria's air force for the fight against the extremist group Boko Haram, sources said on Monday, in a deal that could be worth up to $600 million.The A-29 aircraft, with reconnaissance and surveillance as well as attack capabilities, are made by Brazil's Embraer. But they use U.S. parts and are assembled in Florida, so they are subject to U.S. export rules.Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue. Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review. Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015.In 2016 the U.S. State Department said, in a report, that the Nigerian's have not taken the appropriate steps to investigate or prosecute those officials accused at the government level.Trump's policy to support nations fighting Islamic uprisings fit in perfectly with this sale, and would help create manufacturing and high-wage jobs for Americans.
