Uhuru forced to warn NASA

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said the opposition is free not to participate in the August 8 polls if they so wish.He further warned that NASA will not be allowed to sabotage the August polls.Chief Justice David Maraga is on the spot and has been told to be neutral and stop siding with the National Super Alliance (NASA).The accusations came from the Jubilee Party whose leader President Uhuru Kenyatta, hinted during his tour of Baringo county on Sunday, July 9, that the CJ was siding with the Opposition. The Head of State openly bashed Maraga for directing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to halt printing ballots papers until a case that was in court was decided. While campaigning  in Turkana on Monday, he asked Nasa to stop misleading Kenyans regarding the elections, which are just 27 days away, with a stream of cases in court  against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.“Ruto accused a section of the Judiciary of being partisan. “There are judges who have shown their political stand. What will happen to the impartiality of the Judiciary? Chief Justice David Maraga should help us understand this situation,” said Ruto.“Everyone knows elections are to be held on August 8. These people should not play with our thoughts. If they are not ready, they should say so instead of using IEBC to push the election date. My brother Raila Odinga, with respect, accept that you are not ready and wait to vie with Ruto in 2022. Allow us to go to the ballot with those who are ready.”Uhuru said the opposition should wait for 2022 if they feel they are not ready for the 2017 general election instead of using Court cases to undermine the process.“They should stop playing with the minds of Kenyans. If they are not ready for the polls, let them step aside and allow those who want to participate to do so instead of trying to sabotage the process. Kenyans are ready to go to the polls on August 8 and no one will deny them that right,” said Uhuru.
