Uhuru, Ruto to attend Waiguru's inauguration
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will on on Tuesday, August 22, attend Governor-elect Anne Waiguru’s swearing-in ceremony.The Kirinyaga event had been planned for Monday but was pushed back by a day to allow the two Jubilee Party leaders attend.Kirinyaga has set aside Sh5 million for her inauguration.According to County Secretary Joe Mureithi, they want the swearing-in ceremony to be successful and colourful.The Star quoted Jubilee Party operative in the area, Mureithi Kangara, who said that the fete will be hosted at the Kirinyaga University grounds.
“We are calling on residents to turn out in large numbers at the Kirinyaga university grounds in Kutus town on Tuesday.” He said.“The event will not take place on Monday as earlier planned,” Kangara. UhuRuto are also expected to grace the swearing-in of both Bomet Governor-elect Joyce Laboso and her Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu.The swearing in function had earlier been planned to be held in Kerugoya town but the venue changed when local Jubilee leaders led by Mureithi Kang'ara protested.These leaders argued that Kutus is the seat of power and the event should not take place anywhere else.Following the protest the Devolution ministry changed the revenue.
