African-American actor Will Smith is among the highest paid actors in the world. Smith who has starred in several to ranking movies is ranked number 6 in the earnings according the Forbes Magazine 2018 release with annual earnings of $42 million which is roughly Ksh 4.3 billion thanks to the critically panned ‘Bright’, a Netflix Original and his role as Genie in Disney’s live-action Aladdin.At the top of the Forbes list came in actor cum entrepreneur George Clooney with an annual turnover of Ksh 24 billion before tax.However this earnings majorly came from the sale of his Tequila brand known as Casamigos Tequila at a whooping price of 1 billion dollars to British liquor conglomerate, Diageo. Talking to CNBC during the signing of the deal, Clooney said it has been easy building up the company.“If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion-dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes,” said Clooney. Casamigos was a joint venture started in 2013 by Clooney, Rande Gerber and tycoon Mike Meldman with an investment estimated to be over $600,000.Coming second in the Forbes list is Dwayne Johnson popularly known as ‘The Rock’ with a $124 million (Ksh 12.4 billon) take home. Some of his most popular movies include Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which he stars in with one of the highest paid comedians Kevin Hart.Dwayne’s bargains can be banked on his huge social media following. The Rock boosts 113 million followers on Instagram only.“Social media has become the most critical element of marketing a movie for me. I have established a social media equity with an audience around the world that’s there a value in what I’m delivering to them,” said The Rock. At number 3 is Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr with a total earning of $81 million (Ksh 8.1 billion.)
