She Was Nicknamed “Arwa” Or the Little Girl, Now Chero Leitich is Taking On The Gigantic $50 Billion Cosmetic Industry in America

By Mukurima X Muriuki, Los Angeles.

Most people have heard of the baby boom, the technology boom, and the cryptocurrency boom, but there has also been a beauty boom that has swept the country, if not most of the world! While many businesses have been failing and closing their doors during the Covid19 pandemic, the beauty industry has soared. With the rise of Zoom FaceTime meetings, online dating sites, and social media apps like TikTok, people have become more aware of their outward appearance. Many of us began to notice fine lines and new wrinkles staring back at us from our computer screens. We also heard about the many aesthetic procedures available that are fairly inexpensive and which would give us that extra boost of confidence.  Even though inward beauty is more lasting, looking one’s best is a worthy goal!

Thankfully, here at African Warrior Magazine, we know Judith Chero Leitich, founder of Eterne Wellness in Las Vegas, NV. She is a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 plus years of education and training at elite institutions such as Stanford and University of Southern California. She has dedicated her life to assisting her clients as they embark on their beauty and wellness journey at her Eterne Beauty Medical Spa and TMS Brain Health Treatment Center.

For those who haven’t visited a medical spa, it is a good idea to become familiar with their menu. Like traditional day spas, they offer the usual types of massage, facials, waxing and laser hair removal. But medical spas also offer more specialized treatments like ones found at a dermatology clinic. Some of the more common procedures include light and laser treatments, injectables, Botox, and chemical peels. Medical spas are an excellent place to achieve non-surgical cosmetic changes in the comfort of a spa environment with the confidence of a medical professional performing the procedures. Most services take less than an hour and require limited recovery time. At Eterne Beauty Med Spa, Nurse Practitioner Chero Leitich delivers non-invasive beauty treatments by starting every client relationship with a complimentary beauty consultation. She creates an optimal beauty plan for the client’s individual beauty needs, and in turn, the client is able to achieve life-changing results.

Having grown up in Kenya many years before opening her own wellness center, Leitich dreamed of becoming a District Officer. She remembers being at Afraha Stadium during a national holiday where she recited a poem to the P.C., Yusuf Haji. After her recital, she noticed a lady who was wearing bright red lipstick and a brown uniform sitting next to the P.C. She was transfixed by her appearance and, at that time, wanted to be exactly like her. She later wanted  to become a  media personality like Catherine Kasavuli. Next, her dreams also included an exciting acting career. Her quest continued, and it was in Wichita, Kansas, USA, where she realized her true calling.  She had arrived in America with a public relations and communications degree, however, it was the Kansas Kenyan community that encouraged her to study nursing.

Following one’s dreams is never without challenges, but early lessons in life helped Leitich navigate through the rigors of being a business owner and leader. As a young girl, her family gave her the nickname, Arwa. They called her Arwa, which means “little one”, but the villagers called her “chief.” She earned her village nickname because even as a child, Leitich was known for her problem solving skills. She stated,

“I lead through empathy. I may not always understand what someone is going through, however, I can empathize and know how I would want to be treated if I were in the same situation.” Her leadership philosophy includes being a “teamwork leader.”

When asked about her strongest asset, Leitich said that it is resiliency:

“I have given myself an okay to fail, and the grace to try again. Some things have been easy to achieve, but most have been realized  through hard work and never giving up.”

And although Leitich is resilient and a problem solver, she mentioned that today she had already shed a few tears. She gets emotional when thinking of her children and her patients. She also remarked that she cries when she is sad. Her belief is that crying can be a beautiful release for many of our pent-up emotions.

Leitich understands the need to treat the whole person, so in addition to exterior beauty treatments, she expanded her clinic to assist in improving her clients’ mental health. During the pandemic, mental health issues skyrocketed due to the stress of lockdowns, health scares, and social distancing. Other kinds of stress were created by adjusting to working in a home office, children being homeschooled, or losing employment. Therefore, the need for the TMS & Brain Health became paramount.

Since opening in October of 2021, the TMS & Brain Health treatment portion of her clinic has been offering alternative therapies such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Theta Burst Stimulation, and the use of Ketamine for the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health issues. These treatments are relatively painless, and require no downtime or hospitalization. Patients are able to drive themselves to and from their appointments as well as return to work and other activities immediately afterwards. In the near future, TMS & Brain Health plans to offer even more innovative treatments including neurofeedback and intensive outpatient treatments.

Leitich stated that her goal in life is to have the ability to help her patients feel good about themselves. The unconditional love and support from family and friends have been her springboard into a career where she can now give back to others. Her life is reminiscent of a quote by actor Denzel Washington, “At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”
