A ‘Kenyan’ Gets Drafted Into The Prestigious NFL

A son of a Kenyan immigrant has been drafted in the NFL by the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings capped their efforts in the 2017 NFL Draft by selecting defensive back Jack Tocho in the seventh round with the 245th pick.Tocho was the ninth selection by Minnesota on Saturday, the fourth selection in the seventh round and the 11th player drafted by the Vikings this year.He is the 103rd defensive back selected by Minnesota in franchise history, the most of any position group. The Vikings have now selected at least one cornerback in 11 of the past 12 drafts.Jack is a first-generation American having been born in North Carolina, USA after his parents - David and Getrude Tocho moved to the country in pursuit of better opportunities.Tocho, 6-feet, 202 pounds, was a four-year contributor at North Carolina State who might lack the long speed to stick at corner in the NFL.He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds at the Combine, but perhaps he can move to safety if that's an issue. He becomes the second Kenyan to play in the league after Daniel Odongo joined Indianapolis Colt in 2013 as an outside linebacker. He is currently a free agent.
