Kenyans Now To Buy Top Brands Such As Calvin Klein And Victoria Secrets For As Low As Ksh 50

Kenyans will now be able buy top US clothing brands for as low as KSh 50 thanks to a new tax deal by the Kenyan government. The government has exempted companies that operate at Export Processing Zone (EPZ) from paying taxes meaning the cloths that are usually shipped to the US, and are always too expensive for Kenyans, can now be sold cheaper in the country.Kenyans can now buy top global brands such as Calvin Klein Victoria Secrets and other brands that are made in the country owned by US clothing giant Phillips-Van Huesen Corporation at very low prices. The move was announced by Industrialization and Enterprise Development Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed. He said that EPZ are aiming to sell almost 20 per cent of their products locally.“We have taken a position that up to 20 percent of the goods and apparels manufactured by our EPZ companies can be accessed by Kenyans at affordable prices but for the same quality exported to other countries like US,” said Adan. The products are expected to be available this week and will see prices range from Ksh 50 to KSh 600. These cloths go for about Ksh 5000 in international market.“We will make it clear where Kenyans can access the items after the exhibition in due course and we also expect that at some stage, some outlets will be opened and in the country by small and medium sized enterprises,” Adan added.
