Rachael Shebesh's husband shoots himself while handling pistol
Police are investigating circumstances under which the husband of former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh allegedly shot himself on Tuesday night.Franklin Ambundo, 52, told police that he had accidentally shot himself slightly above his left knee when he was servicing his Glock 17 rifle at their home in Nairobi. But a senior police officer has confided in Capital FM News that they have launched an investigation over the matter to corroborate what he told them.“We want to establish whether it is possible for one to shoot himself twice, at what angle among other possibilities,” the officer said.Mr Shebesh had a Glock pistol at the time of the said incident. The weapon with 12 bullets have been taken away. Another official said a Glock pistol has one of the best safety precautions. A team has been formed to investigate the incident. He went to The Nairobi Hospital to seek treatment but an informer told the police that a patient with a gunshot wound was seeking treatment at the hospital.“Officers from the Kilimani Police Station rushed to the hospital as is the norm, and established that the patient was a civilian gun holder and that he had discharged one round of ammunition injuring himself,” police said.Mr Shebesh is a former police reservist and rugby player. He has three children with Racheal.Racheal was dethroned by ODM's Esther Passaris in a hotly contested August 8 election.
