Uhuru gets congratulatory messages from world leaders after winning
President Uhuru Kenyatta is still receiving congratulatory messages from global leaders for his re-election in the recently concluded elections.According to a statement from State House Spokesman Manoah Esipise, Uhuru received messages from China, Israeli and European Union among other leaders.Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations. President Xi told President Kenyatta: “During your participation in the Road and Belt Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing last May, we had an in depth exchange of views on the development of bilateral relations and reached extensive consensus. "I attach high importance to China-Kenya relations and I am ready to work with Your Excellency to enhance the China-Kenya Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Relationship and further benefit our two countries and our people.” The European Union congratulated President Kenyatta in a message delivered by the EU Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.The EU highly praised the election as credible, free, fair and transparent. The EU also committed to continue its support for Kenya’s development agenda going forward in order to delivery prosperity for all Kenyan citizens.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also called President Kenyatta, congratulating him for the electoral victory and also pledging continued cooperation with Israel in the areas of agriculture and security, which are already strong.The messages on Monday followed those by other global leaders which President Kenyatta has received since Friday night.They range from our neighbors the Heads of State and/or Government of Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, Burundi and South Sudan in the Eastern African region, to those in other corners of the continent such as South Africa and Namibia, and Nigeria and Ghana, and Egypt and Algeria.Other key development partners, including the United Kingdom, Spain and Belgium have also congratulated the President on his re-election.BY PSCU
